Profile Biography
In high school, I enjoyed working with numbers and did very well in my math classes. In the mid 1980s, I had the opportunity to attend a summer workshop in computer science and enjoyed it so much that I decided to major in the field. Friends and family members discouraged me saying it was a difficult program to go through and would have a hard time as an as a minority woman in a caucasian male dominated field. I knew my strength in capacity and decided to achieve my goal. It's been 22 years since I've entered the IT field and have found it rewarding both professionally and financially. Being in IT has given me the flexibility to work remotely so I can attend to my family's need while meeting my job expectations. I enjoy learning new technologies and continuously staying abreast of new developments in the field. There's never boredom in my life due to the constantly changing nature of technology. I would like to encourage young girls, especially minorities to overlook stereotypes of IT workers and follow their hearts to discover an contribute to this exciting field.
