Profile Biography 
Mariel joined TACC as the K-12 Education Programs coordinator in 2014. Her passion has always been to increase the understanding and appreciation of STEM careers, and promote gender equity and minority participation in science and engineering. Her goal is to infuse and excite K-12 students into computational thinking and increase their understanding of high performance computing.

Mariel previously served as the STEM Instruction Specialist at UteachEngineering, where she developed and delivered teacher professional development to engineering instructors across the nation, and recruited schools in underprivileged communities. Her previous experience includes; teaching engineering classes, coaching robotics, leading STEM professional development for K-12 instructors, and coordinating STEM programs. She began her career at General Motors Corp. in Warren, Michigan, working with the validation of cutting-edge robotic systems.
