Profile Biography
Computer science chose me. I've been involved in it since I was a young girl and my taste for it only grew as it became obvious that women are considered a minority in the industry. All throughout my CS education and career, I have been intent on bringing more women into the field. After getting my Master's in CS, I took a position as an undergraduate instructor, while also working as a 6th-12th grade CS teacher at a local charter school. Right now, my passion lies behind my non-profit, Thinkersmith. I'm working with people (mostly grades K-8) to show them that computer science can be a fun and artistic creative outlet. I focus on computational thinking, using it to bring understanding and confidence during an age that is normally considered difficult and confusing.

Outside of work, I am a mother of two energetic and creative boys. I love geocaching, designing geek jewelry and geektastic t-shirts.
