Profile Biography
Being a staff Scientist at Oak Ridge National Lab allows me to help our country by advancing energy. When do we use energy? Imagine if you flipped the light switch, and the lights didn’t turn on. What if you turned the key in your car’s ignition, and nothing happened? And imagine the horror, if you didn’t have a cellphone. Well, for those reasons and more, that’s why I decided to work in the field of energy. In 2009 I finished my Ph.D. in Polymer Chemistry, after attending Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and the University of Vermont. Polymers can be hard or soft like a rubber band or dried glue—lots of energy applications have important polymer components. I will discuss how polymers, energy, and chemistry led me to Washington, D.C.
