Profile Biography
Kelly Kloster Hon is not only a STEM professional but also a STEM ambassador. She helps students develop a passion for STEM, equip women in industry, as well as demonstrate the value of inclusion and diversity. Kelly graduated from Georgia Tech with bachelor's and master's degrees in Mechanical Engineering. She completed graduate school as an exchange student at the University of Stuttgart. Her time spent at various internships all over America in different fields of Mechanical Engineering led her to Product Development. As a Design Engineer at a consulting firm and then Newell Brands, a consumer products company, her numerous projects required concept ideation in a multidisciplinary setting, prototype development, engineering solutions, and manufacturing refinement. Now at Becton Dickinson (BD), a global medical technology company, Kelly is currently an Associate Staff Engineer leading global teams on the design, development, and launch of new gravity infusion intravenous therapy sets as well as managing a team of laboratory testing technicians. Through her natural curiosity, empathy for others, and technical yet creative background she strives to develop and flawlessly execute innovative products in collaboration with R&D professionals to meet consumer and business needs. Starting during her collegiate years she became actively involved in the Society of Women Engineers reaching out to peers to mentor and young women in the community to inspire to explore a technical career. As part of the Atlanta and San Diego Professional Sections she has continued to do so as an active member, VP of Outreach, and now President.
