Specifically, Karin supports the development of a power processing unit for high power, high voltage electric propulsion applications and the development of a flywheel energy storage system. Flywheel energy storage, or storing energy mechanically in a rotating wheel, offers an alternative to traditional chemical energy storage systems, such as batteries, for future missions.
