Irena Ivanovska is a Senior Scientific Director at The Mark Foundation for Cancer Research, where she leads the ASPIRE program. Irena brings a depth of experience from both the biotech and pharmaceutical industries. She was Director and Site Head at Celdara Medical where she led company expansion into the Boston/Cambridge biotech ecosystem, and was instrumental in shaping company strategy and scientific direction. At Celdara, she led preclinical development teams for small and large molecule therapeutics in oncology and infectious disease. Before joining Celdara, Irena led R&D teams at Merck & Co., Inc., in oncology and autoimmune diseases, developing small molecule and RNA-based therapeutics. Irena received a PhD in Molecular Biology from Princeton University and completed her postdoctoral training at the Whitehead Institute. She serves as a mentor to young scientists and budding entrepreneurs at MassBio, WEST, MGH Postdoc Association, and Nucleate, and is a co-author on multiple scientific papers in diverse disease areas.
