Profile Biography
My name is Grace Pakeltis and I am a senior in materials science and engineering at the University of Illinois. I fell in love with materials science in high school after attending GAMES camp at the University of Illinois. Throughout my undergraduate career, I have become heavily involved in the Society of Women Engineers. I started in the outreach committee where I was able run events for girls of all ages to introduce them to engineering. I am currently the President of the U of I section where I lead the largest engineering organization on our campus. SWE creates an amazing community where its members are able to grow academically, professionally and socially. I am also involved in undergraduate research. I work in Professor John Rogers’ lab on bioelectronics. This research allows me to make a difference in technology that saves peoples’ lives. I am currently working on a wireless neural implantable needle for optogenetics. In the future, I plan to get my PhD in Materials Science.
