Profile Biography
I am a radio astronomer and a postdoctoral fellow at Green Bank Observatory in Green Bank, West Virginia. My job is part astronomy research and part scientific and technical support for the users of the Green Bank Telescope (GBT). The GBT is currently the world's largest fully steerable telescope. For my research, I am interested in understanding how active galaxies evolve and how they interact with groups of galaxies called galaxy clusters.

I grew up in Nebraska, then went North to receive my B.A. from St. Olaf College with a major in Physics. During my undergraduate education, I participated in two Research Experiences for Undergraduates: one at the University of Wisconsin - Madison and one at the Maria Mitchell Observatory on Nantucket, MA. After my undergraduate degree, I went South to receive my M.S. and Ph.D. from the University of Florida in Astronomy where I studied how living in a group of galaxies affects an active galaxy. After my PhD, I moved to Prague, Czech Republic for my first postdoc to work at the Astronomical Institute of the Czech Academy of Sciences and as a support scientist at the Czech node of the European ALMA Regional Center.

Professionally, I enjoy radio astronomy, active galaxies, galaxy clusters, and helping astronomers use radio telescopes. Outside of work, I enjoy training for and participating in triathlons, hiking, biking, traveling, board games, and collecting radio telescope necklaces.
