Profile Biography
I am inspired by the world around me. I aim to push the limitations of what we know this world to be though the investigation of cell biology. Life is a grand system of interconnectivity, and knowledge of this organization could lead humanity to discoveries that dwarf our wildest dreams and expectations for the future.

Science is not just a methodology for the exploration of life, it is an opportunity for inspiration and awe. My goal is to pursue this knowledge as a means of not only improving the quality of the human experience now, but also as a way to inspire a new, more powerful all-inclusive perspective in terms of our interpretations and interface with existence. I believe that the scientific method and the information it has and will yield fosters an understanding of life that is rich in logic, ingenuity and imagination that is greatly needed as we face new obstacles in the future. Education in, and the pursuit of scientific knowledge is the key to humanity's future success.

I received my Bachelor of Science in Molecular Biology in 2015 from the University of Denver. My undergraduate coursework was focused in molecular neuroscience, neuropharmacology, cognitive neuroscience, and molecular cell biology. After graduating I have spent the last 2.5 years doing cancer research as a Professional Research Assistant. While working in the Espinosa lab, I have studied the effects of hypoxia and glucose metabolism on gene regulation through the mediator complex and its associated kinases. I explored the effects of antisense intragenic transcription on the p53 target gene, PUMA, and I learned how to utilize and design RNAi and CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing tools while working at the Functional Genomics Facility (FGF), all with the goal of finding novel therapeutics and targets in cancer treatment.
