Profile Biography

My name is Christie. I received my Bachelors in Biology from Appalachian State University and my Masters in Biological Sciences from Clemson University. After graduating, I worked at the Catawba Science Center as the Science Kit Coordinator and finally as the Science and Technology Enrichment Coordinator where I worked with middle and high school students to design and develop a new permanent exhibit, The Inventor's Workshop. I have been working at the Schiele Museum of Natural History since 2009 as the Youth Program Specialist. Here I have taught educational programs ranging in topic from Catawba Indians to chemistry. I am the Director of our Summer Camp and Camp in programs. I have planned many special events including Clash of the Bots, Trail Of Treats, and even one about Marine Mammals. Like most everyone who works in a museum setting, I have been involved with many aspects of the museum from running the planetarium, checking in guests at the front desk, caring for our live animal collection, and even helping with the setup of new exhibits.
