Dr. Anna Quider leads federal policy strategy and advocacy at Northern Illinois University as the Assistant Vice President for Federal Relations and founder of the NIU office in Washington, D.C. Previously, she worked to improve local and global communities through international cooperation by supporting U.S. Department of State policies and programming at the intersection of science, innovation, and diplomacy. Dr. Quider has also developed strategies to address local, national, and international issues spanning education, science, innovation, and foreign affairs for the Office of Rep. Russ Carnahan, U.S. House of Representatives. Dr. Quider is an astrophysicist who regularly engages broad audiences on topics including astronomy, professional development, and policy.

Dr. Quider holds a Ph.D. in Astronomy from the University of Cambridge and a BS in Physics and Astronomy and a BA in Religious Studies and the History and Philosophy of Science from the University of Pittsburgh. Her current leadership roles include serving on the Marshall Scholarship Selection Committee for the Washington, DC region; Government Affairs Liaison to the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities (APLU) Council on Research; and the Board of Visitors of the University of Pittsburgh Honors College. She served as the 2018 President of The Science Coalition. Her awards include the Marshall Scholarship, two Superior Honor Awards from the U.S. Department of State, and two AAAS Science and Technology Policy Fellowships.
