Profile Biography
Hello, I am a small town girl very passionate about the outdoors and protecting fisheries resources in particular. I grew up hunting and fishing with my father in small town in eastern Washington. I have obtained a vast knowledge of common fisheries management techniques and strive to increase that knowledge.I’ve been interested in fish since I could walk and hold a fishing pole.I began my academic career at Eastern Washington University (EWU) in the biology department. As an undergraduate I had the pleasure of working in the EWU Fisheries Research Center as a research assistant on a plethora of projects. The focus of my undergraduate work was using bioenergetics modeling to assess consumption of salmonids by nonnative Walleye and Smallmouth Bass in the Sanpoil Arm of Lake Roosevelt. From there my work involved tagging and tracking Bull trout in the Pend Oreille River basin and kokanee salmon in Lake Roosevelt. I moved on to the EWU Master’s program where my work focused on assessing the hatchery Kokanee program and formulating management recommendations for the Lake Roosevelt Management Team. After graduate school I worked for a variety of entities including Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, Pacific Northwest National Laboratory and the Sitka Sound Science Center. Currently I work for the Spokane Tribe of Indians as one of two biologist tasked with management and operation of the Lake Roosevelt Fisheries Evaluation Program. Our goal is to restore a robust fishery for Lake Roosevelt. We monitor fish populations, angler participation and the water quality of the reservoir.
